SITUATION
Seeking to advance their technology focus, Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) partnered with Forsyth county and Digital Ignition to host a Hack-a-Thon event to secure new smart vehicle insights and help identify the right partner for future GDOT innovations. Digital Ignition’s unique “spaceship” architecture was the perfect launching pad to host the tech challenge.
SOLUTION
EWISE Communications president and Digital Ignition general manager, Joanne Sanders, courted GDOT and pitched them on the idea of a technology challenge event and that Forsyth County was the place to hold it. Forsyth county has one of the highest concentrations of software developers and programmers in the state, while Digital Ignition is a hub for companies working in the fields of emerging technology, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and (IoT). Specifically, we:
- Fostered strategic relationships with GDOT, the state of Georgia, and Forsyth County to attract technology companies from around the world to help GDOT translate data into safety innovations to support preparation for Smart City alignment
- Created highly relevant website content to attract target audiences
- Launched focused social media campaigns to increase awareness and engage potential participants
RESULTS
Talking Traffic Lights’ five-day challenge attracted 13 IT startups and businesses both domestically and from around the world. The winning team was granted a $75,000 contract with GDOT to pilot their invention.
